An electrical contractor by trade, Sam began his career in the lift industry with EPL (now Kone) as a construction electrician. In the '70's he established an independent lift company in Sydney which specialised in small lifts and material handling equipment. His success was such that the supplier of the equipment set up their own operations in NSW.

Experienced in marketing, sales and senior management, Sam secured key positions in a number of elevator companies in both Australia and the USA prior to creating Pitfield & Associated in 2006.

Sam is an active member of the Lift Engineering Society of Australia (LESA Inc.), having served as President, Treasurer and Historian.

Sam has been involved with lifts since the '60's and is well known and respected in the industry.
